After Cataract Surgery Vision Is Changing: Is This Normal?

If you had successful cataract surgery without any problems or complications it is normal to have changes or fluctuations in your vision for several days, weeks, and sometimes months after the procedure.

In general, it usually takes 3 to 4 weeks for your vision to stabilize after cataract surgery. In order to get the best result it is recommended to wait this amount of time before getting checked for a prescription pair of glasses.

Causes for changing vision in the post op period after cataract surgery include corneal problems like dry eyes or corneal edema, retinal problems such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, or epiretinal membrane, and optic nerve problems such as glaucoma.

You should discuss any concerns you have with your ophthalmologist in order to understand your particular situation.
