Wearing mascara or eye makeup too soon after cataract surgery can cause an increase in inflammation which can delay the healing process. This is another reason why it is recommended not to wear eye makeup until one or two weeks after cataract surgery.

Wearing any other type of facial makeup before or after the surgery should not cause any problems.
