After Cataract Surgery When Can I Wear Makeup?

When can I wear makeup after cataract surgery and how soon is it safe to start wearing makeup again after my cataract operation depends upon what your own eye surgeon feels is best for you.

In general, wearing eye makeup after cataract surgery should be avoided for one or two weeks after the procedure. The reason for not wearing eye makeup sooner than that is because eye makeup and especially mascara and eyeliner may contain bacteria and other particles that can be a potential source of infection after having any eye surgery, but especially cataract surgery.
