Overall, it's important to ask your eye doctor about the health of your cornea, retina, and optic nerve before
you have cataract surgery.
Your eye surgeon should be able to tell you whether or not you have good potential or
limited potential for good vision depending on the health of your eye. Once the cataract has been removed your eye
doctor should be able to reassure you as to the status of your eye healing by telling you if there is any swelling
in the cornea or macula and if there is whether or not that needs to be
treated.
